Associate of Arts in General Studies
A General Studies Associates Degree from University of St. Thomas-Houston offers students a well-rounded education with a solid multi-disciplinary preparation allowing them to pursue careers in Education, STEM, Government, Business, and other fields. At UST, students will have an opportunity to engage in the Study of History, Literature, Writing, Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology, Creative Arts and more. The Kolbe Associate of Applied Science program has been designed to help students communicate well, formulate compelling arguments, and problem solve.
This two-year, 100% online degree program accepts any 45 hours of Angelicum Great Books or Theology Online credits to satisfy the UST 45-credit core requirement for an AAS in General Studies. Students earn the remaining 15 credits by enrolling in 5 UST elective courses that a student selects from among about 80 UST electives in Technology, General Business, or Drug & Alcohol Counseling. Courses run on a 7-week compressed track like other UST Associates Courses. The Angelicum Academy has carefully reviewed the many UST course offerings to develop a short list of courses more aligned with a generalist curriculum than the rest. Those recommended courses are:
* GENB 1301: Principled Business
* GENB 1305: Writing and Research
* GENB 1312: Introduction to Business
* GENB 1341: Principles of Accounting 1
* GENB 1342: Principles of Accounting 2
* GENB 2320: Personal Finance
* GENB 2340: Leadership
* GENB 2347: Principles of Management

Students can easily move into a four-year bachelor’s degree at UST with this AA in General Studies degree with most of the courses transferrable. The Agreement between the Angelicum and UST provides that the 48 Great Books Credits and 12 Theology Online Credits (60 credits total) can be accepted as “transfer credit as college-level courses toward UST associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree(s).” Complete requirements for completion of a BA at UST after high school are determined by UST’s Agreement with the Angelicum and applicable provisions of UST Policy Number A.04.01 consistent with that agreement. They include:
A major or approved program in which at least 50 percent of the required upperdivision credit hours in the major field are completed at the University of St. Thomas (exceptions: no requirement for General Studies or Liberal Arts majors);
At least 36 credit hours of upper-division credit (3000-4000 course numbers);
